Facial Tips

Prepare

Facials are a great way to kick start or enhance a skin care program. However, some products that you use at home can restrict the facials that can be performed. Please discontinue the use of Retinol, acne treatments, exfoliants, and any skin bleaching product 48 hours before receiving a facial. Dermaplaning facials require retinol to be discont

Choosing the right facial

Some facials are great for helping fine lines or texture while others are just very relaxing. Talk to your esthetician about getting the right service for your skin and implementing the best home routine to achieve your goals.

Don't forget the details

Please let us know of any other esthetic services you have received in the last 4 weeks. Receiving injections, Botox, and even waxing can determine when you can receive a facial. Also, some medications including blood thinners can also make facials tricky. Some facials include electricity. Please let us know if you have any metal implants or are pregnant.

Dermaplaning Prep:

  1. Avoid Retinol & Exfoliants – Stop using retinol, AHAs, BHAs, or other exfoliating products 5-7 days before treatment to prevent irritation.

  2. No Waxing or Threading – Refrain from hair removal (waxing, threading, or depilatory creams) at least 7 days before dermaplaning.

  3. Skip the Sun – Avoid excessive sun exposure and tanning beds at least a week prior to the treatment.

  4. Hydrate Your Skin – Drink plenty of water and keep your skin moisturized in the days leading up to your appointment.

  5. Skip Makeup on the Day Of – Arrive with a clean, bare face—free of makeup, oils, and lotions.

  6. Inform Your Esthetician – Let them know if you have any active acne, open wounds, or a history of cold sores.

Chemical Peel Prep:

  1. Discontinue Retinoids & Exfoliants – Stop using retinoids, acids (AHA, BHA), and exfoliating scrubs 5-7 days before your peel to prevent excessive peeling or irritation.

  2. Stay Out of the Sun – Avoid sun exposure 1-2 weeks prior and wear SPF daily to prevent sensitivity.

  3. Stop Hair Removal – No waxing, laser hair removal, or depilatory creams at least 7 days before the peel.

  4. Avoid Botox & Fillers – Wait at least 2 weeks after Botox or fillers before getting a peel.

  5. Hydrate & Moisturize – Keep your skin well-hydrated in the days leading up to your appointment.

  6. Skip Makeup on the Day Of – Arrive with clean skin, free of makeup, lotions, or serums.

  7. Be Cautious with Medications – If you take acne medications (like Accutane), consult your esthetician as some medications require you to stop usage months before a chemical peel
